"So, What Do You Actually Do?"

It's the question I get asked the most, usually at a networking event or whenever someone asks what do we do for a living and then politely waits for an answer that fits in one sentence.

My answer is always the same: "Very Good Question!"

I'm not buying time. It genuinely is a good question, because the honest answer doesn't fit in a single sentence. So here's the proper explanation.

The short version - Some of our clients are trades people and small businesses i.e. plumbers, electricians, roofers, builders and more. When their phone rings and they're up a ladder, under a sink or in the middle of a job, we are the one who picks up.😁

That is only the start of it.

The longer version - We answer and action the calls. A call isn't finished when someone hangs up. A customer with a leaking boiler needs a call back, a quote request needs chasing, and a job needs to be passed on with the correct details. We make sure nothing gets lost. We book customers in the diary ensuring our client isn't travelling a million miles around the country to each job in the wrong direction. 😉

We handle the correspondence, emails, messages, follow-ups, confirmations. The admin piles up when you spend your days on site rather than at your desk.

Customer Service - Whether it's a new customer wanting to know if someone can come out in a week, or an existing client with a question of concern, we make sure they get a prompt, friendly and professional response. A good experience on the phone is often what turns a one-off job into a customer for life!.

We follow up on leads, enquiries have a habit of going cold. Someone asks for a quote, the business owner get swapped, and the opportunity quietly disappears. We chase those enquiries, keep the conversation going and help turn the interest in booked work.

The Researcher - You need to find a supplier, compare prices on materials, or work out the best option for your work clothes or assistance with a project. That's us. It's a job that takes hours when your juggling everything else, and its often the things that never get done. We research it, present it to you, then if it requires an order we take care of the practical bit's that keeps a business running smoothly.

Operational Support - This is the "no two days are the same" part. One day it's rearranging appointments, the next sorting a backlog of emails, sending invoices and searching for invoices to be sent to accounts. We help you to find some breathing space in a chaotic schedule.

HR Support - We support with admin HR projects - We have assisted HR companies with sensitive issues, helping to ensure the paperwork is in order.

Something struck me today Whilst writing this we realise that this is much of a list for us, imagine carrying it all on top of running a business . However tasks like above can swallow your time.

Every evening spent catching up on emails is time away from the family. Every hour spent chasing suppliers, sorting uniforms or wrestling HR paperwork is an hour spending not doing the work they are good at.

That is where my job comes in. My job is at the heart, is to help people get their time back!!!

So, what do we do? - Honestly, whatever keeps the business moving.

If you're reading this thinking "that sounds like exactly the support we need" then let's have a chat. We'd love to help take some weight off your shoulders.
